The work with Yann was an unusual and special experience. While I let the camera, lights, and computers adjust to photograph accurately, instinctively, he prepared his presentation. He made the scenario, turned the loud sound on, selected the music he wished, prepared his brushes, inks with food, and concentrated on himself. He entered into a kind of trance and started the composition and creation of several canvases, drawing in an extraordinary way, which he normally calls of planting (a mix of artistical techniques of plating and painting), which I have the privilege to photograph.

From my wonderful experience with Yann in the National museum and my follow up in the social media I have realized that he is not just a top chef but a real artist

Yann Bernard Lejard has produced a series of artistic experiments that extend his past experience as a chef with his ability to create immersive paintings of a unique kind. His idea is to extend the definition of live painting to an understanding of a living painting.

There are a few moments in life where you are blessed by crossing paths with those who will forever change you. Yann is one of those people in my life; because (in my eyes) he is the human form of inspiration. His food/art forces you to pay attention, to study it, to experience it, to learn from it while never revealing its secrets. It seduces you, satiates you, and leaves you wondering what can possible be next? Overall, it leaves you hungry even if you’re full, the mark of a true master. I am honored to call Yann my friend and relish every opportunity to cross paths with him so that I can constantly remain amazed and inspired by who he is and what he brings to our industry.

The multi-sensory experience Yann Bernard Lejard brings to his guest is so uniquely original that the artistic beauty and enhanced flavor profiles are beyond memorable. Yann’s creative brilliance is unleased and limitless, pushing the boundaries of food and art surpassing everything previously known.

The presentation is so harmonic, eye-catching with such bold identity, you almost forget that is actually food, soon to be in someone's mouth. I bet you wonder how can this be only a food plate? Well, the truth is that it really isn't. It is actual art, edible art. Fascinating art.

Art to dine for YBL stole visitor's hearts with his enchanting edible art. Like a painter maestro, Chef Yann will again change the empty plate to his art medium filled with color play, form and composition, also combination of harmonious and complemented flavor.

Meet YBL, the man who steps out of the culinary frame.

His Creation are often extreme, amazing, and reminiscent of early twentieth century expressionism in paintings. Not surprisingly, this artistic movement and chef agree on their objectives : expressing feelings and emotions through shapes and colors.

These days, it’s becoming a bit of a cliché to say that Chefs are artists in their own right. To compete internationally, artistic plating is really a must. But one Chef takes this concept to the next level and his plates have even been compared to Jackson Pollock and his famous 'drip painting' Technique.

We are very proud and very grateful to collaborated with Chef Yann. The dinner was a work of Art, a Unique experience ever, that really made beyond expectation and became the Talk of the DILMAH FAMILY. Hoping to be able to work together again with Chef Yann BL in the Future.
